GETEC: A well-balanced approach promoting collaboration

GETEC net has been part of the German energy market for 15 years as a successful and independent energy service company. This year, they carried out the refurbishment of their headquarters offices in Hannover. For them, this meant an exciting opportunity to reflect the constant evolution of their people, ways of working, and ambitions.

Being a company devoted to devising innovative solutions, collaborative work is more than crucial. GETEC aimed to create a new work environment that encourages teamwork and supports the creative thinking process.

Up to now, the office layout has not allowed proper space for the planned project work. Lena Eckroth from GETEC net explains, "With and in the premises of our netzwerkstatt, we took the first step towards a new way of working and thinking. The innovative, comfortable and functional environment is both framework and context. It describes a different kind of internal collaboration, focusing on customer-centric solutions with the help of new approaches and methodologies."

To achieve this new space, the customer has been working closely with BuzziSpace dealer, Kontor Büro & Objekteinrichtung. Together, they defined three main functional areas: a workspace where employees can focus, a space for interactive presentations and a creative-work area with both lounge seating elements and a large working table for collaborative work.

For the workstations BuzziDesk Split and BuzziFalls help to create the desired level of privacy whereas the collaborative areas were furnished with BuzziPicNic, stealing the show due to its solid wood material, along with BuzziMilk stools, creating a warm and pleasant atmosphere.

The challenge of the meeting area

Every design poses different challenges. Being set in an open space, the main meeting point was one of them since background noise interfered good speech intelligibility. The customer had shown his apprehension about traditional and dull acoustic solutions in an early stage of the development when the design was a mere concept.

Having this in mind, Kontor Büro & Objekteinrichtung reached out to BuzziSpace to find solutions accommodating the demands of this new way of working, improving well-being and productivity. Rüdiger Herwy from Kontor Büro & Objekteinrichtung explains: “We chose BuzziSpace because we were able to develop innovative and creative solutions to our concept. The materials and shapes create the desired overall picture”.

Therefore, our acoustic lighting was the perfect fit to remedy undesired noise, and GETEC net was happy with the idea of having several features in one: good acoustics, innovative design, and light.

A cultural change

Each workspace should facilitate the way the business works. However, implementing a new look and layout for the company presented some difficulties for the designer who states, “it is a noticeable change for the organization, where we have to strike a balance between a very playful approach and a more serious one from before, always taking the existing culture into account.” In the end, it all boils down to well-balanced spaces.
